Ballerina Bun

The ballerina bun is the high, sleek, perfectly-round bun that ballet dancers wear in performance — gathered at the very top of the head, wrapped around a bun donut or twisted tight, smoothed flat with strong-hold gel. The shape must be circular and disciplined; messiness defeats the entire purpose.

It flatters oval, oblong, and heart faces — the high position lengthens the face visually, which suits these shapes. Round and square faces tend to look top-heavy under a true ballerina bun. Straight, wavy, and curly textures all wear it (the bun donut helps tame curl into the smooth round shape).
