Rapunzel Length

Rapunzel length is hair past mid-back, often to the waist or hips — the longest tier on the length spectrum. The cut is essentially no cut: blunt one-length with maybe a slight V at the back for shape. The actual challenge isn't growing it; it's keeping ends healthy through the years it takes to get there.

It only really works on oval faces — extreme length elongates the face proportionally, and only oval shapes can carry it without going gaunt. Straight, wavy, and curly hair all reach Rapunzel length, though curly's true visual length is dramatically shorter than its stretched length (3C/4A curls can show 40% of their actual length). The cut suits people who want hair to be a defining personal feature.

High maintenance, counterintuitively — long hair needs MORE trims (every eight weeks, dusting only) to retain length, because split ends propagate up the strand and cause breakage. Daily routine is mostly conditioner-focused: weekly deep conditioning, leave-in for daily wear, satin pillowcase for sleep. Most people who reach Rapunzel length take 3-5 years to do it. Ask for 'just a dust on the ends' — a quarter inch off the bottom — generic 'trim' from someone who doesn't grow long hair often means more than that.
